Sholing came from behind to advance in the Southern League Challenge Cup. Second half strikes by Jamie Bulpitt and Dan Mason, turned the game on it's head after Moneyfields took the lead on the stroke of half time.

Team News: Byron & Marv weren't available, but TJ returned to action. James Johnson was called up from the Reserves to play at left back.  Moneyfields squad was missing some of their more experienced players such as Fenners, Poate, Pearce & Hutchings, but they still put out a strong starting line-up.

It was a slow and scrappy start to the game, with the play mostly in midfield and wasn't until 21 minutes that either keeper had anything to do. It was Gosney who did well to come out quickly to smother a shot after a Moneyfield's player had been played in behind.  Gos was back into action on 33 minutes, this time to push a freekick round the post and a minute later, there was a tactical change by Dave Diaper, bringing on Dean Faithfull to allow Roundell to go into midfield, with Owen Royl going to left back.

Sholing finally showed some attacking intent on 38 minutes when a scramble in the box saw Alex Sawyer scoop a slow-motion effort that hit the post and was cleared.  The half had nil-nil written all over it, until it didn't, because right on 45 minutes, Moneyfields broke down Sholing's right and Lamin Jatta hit a well placed angled shot across Gosney and into the far corner.  HT 0-1

Boatmen upped their tempo after the restart and had the ball in the back of the net almost immediately, but Sawyer was adjudged to be offside as he got onto Dan Mason's pass.  However, soon after and Sholing were level. On 55 minutes Sawyer swung in a right sided corner that was cleared to JAMIE BULPITT on the edge of the box, 20 yards out and his shot through a crowd of players appeared to get a nick off a defender before hitting the back of the net.  Was "Bully's" 20th goal for the club.

Marlon Mason came on for James Lauder and was unfortunate to be booked when he tried to connect with a cross as the defender arrived at the same time.   On 65 minutes, Sholing took the lead and it again came from a Sawyer right sided corner.  This time, the cross was met with a fantastic leap by Brad Targett, who outjumped taller defenders to nod forwards where it found Marlon Mason who stretched to head it back across goal where it dropped nicely for DAN MASON, 12 yards out to smash in a half-volley for his 5th of the season.

Sholing were looking quite comfortable protecting their lead against a Moneyfields team whose final ball didn't match their build up play.  Boatmen almost had a third as Targett did well to get to the byline and cut in towards goal before passing to the arriving Marlon Mason, who connected well, but the keeper pulled off a good save with his trailing leg to send the ball just the wrong side of the upright.  Deep in added time, Money's had a chance to send the game to penalties, but a lack of composure saw a good opening wasted as the ball was prodded horribly wide from close range.

After a couple of disappointing results, was a boost to get a win over an old rival.   There was further good news with the expected signing of attacking midfielder, Stuart Green (Bognor Regis, Salisbury & AFC Totton) to be officially confirmed later this week. FT 2-1
