Wayne Robinson hit a hat-trick as Sholing won through to the Southampton Senior Cup Final at St Mary's Stadium.

Team News : Byron & Dan Miller missed out, but good to see both doing some warm ups before the game. Jordan Rose joined the club after the registration deadline, but Dave Diaper put out as strong a side as he could.  Wessex Premier side, Hythe & Dibden had two former Boatmen, Vase winner Alex Sawyer and also Liam Golding.

It was a breezy evening at Romsey Town's ground and the wind would pick up in strength as the game progressed.  Hythe & Dibden forced a couple of early corners, but we took the lead on 8 minutes. Dan Mason's shot on the turn was blocked, but fell nicely to CHARLIE WAGSTAFFE to smash a ball busting shot from just inside the box that rocketed into the net.

Charlie then turned provider, doing well to volley back a deep cross to the near post where WAYNE ROBINSON nodded over the line.  As he was celebrating, the Hythe & Dibden keeper stupidly launched the ball at one of our players and the Referee sent him off.  Took a few minutes for the opposition to sort out a replacement, but Boon, an outfield player, drew the short straw to put the gloves on.

On 26 minutes, it was 3-0 as Brad Targett raced to the byline and his cut back into the 6 yard box was hooked in by WAYNE ROBINSON.

It was one way traffic for the remainder of the half with Dan Mason, Lee Wort & Charlie Wagstaffe all going close to scoring  HT 3-0

The sending off killed the competitive feel to the game with the second half a mostly low key affair as Sholing knocked the ball around and Hythe & Dibden did their best to keep the score down.

Took until 60 minutes for the Boatmen to grab our 4th, but it was a lovely goal as Leon Baker threaded the ball down the right channel for WAYNE ROBINSON to lash a fierce angled shot high into the net to complete his hat-trick.

Sholing were guilty of trying to walk the ball in at times, but Hythe & Dibden also did well to get in some crucial blocks.  They grabbed a consolation on 69 mins when Gosney jumped & caught the ball and appeared to be fouled in the process as the ball came loose and Crook scored. The Hythe stand-in keeper was doing his best and did produce an excellent late save to deny Cohwen Whitaker from point blank range.

Sholing will be looking to make it win number 9 in the Southampton Senior Cup final, which will be against AFC Totton at St Mary's Stadium, date yet to be confirmed.  Thanks to Romsey Town for hosting and all the best to Hythe & Dibden for the remainder of the season.  FT 4-1
