Sholing FC Under 18 Academy
Run in partnership with Champion Academy, the students will have the opportunity to study a Level 3 Sport qualification (equivalent to 3 A' Levels), alongside playing in weekly fixtures against other Football Academies. Students will also have the opportunity to have a personalised nutrition plan in place to suit their needs, along with weekly VEO analysis of games to help with player development.

The U18 Academy gives players the chance to enhance their football pathways with a clear route to the first team. This season we have seen 2 players from within the scholarship play for the first team and be regularly involved with the u23’s.
The academy is set up to provide a first-class education giving students the opportunity to apply for University or employment within the Sports industry on completion of the education.
Mark Gamble, Head of Education Champion Academy and First team coach said, “Sholing is a terrific football club with great people involved who wants its young players to progress from within the club to the first team. The U18 Academy is set up to do this with a clear football pathway between the scholarship, to the u18s, to the u23s and then into the first team. With myself involved from Champion, our Education success has been excellent this last year with a number of students going onto study Sport at University and most notably with us at Champion on our degree course in Sport Management in partnership with Loughborough college and Loughborough University. As First team coach I can oversee the development, liaise with Dave and ensure there are opportunities for the students to get some opportunities with the first team whether that be playing or in another area such as analysis or coaching".
"The Education element is exactly the same as what is delivered at local colleges or other similar courses. It covers a broad range of topics within Sport such as performance analysis, sports coaching, athletes lifestyle and other interesting subjects which students can then study after at University. We provide them with all the skills and Education needed to further succeed on completion of the level 3 qualification with us and also provide industry insight by organising work placements in a variety of places".
Scholarship student Sam Mould (pictured below playing for the Sholing 1st team at Aldershot Town last season ), “Sholing is a great football club with lots of opportunities for young players who want to try and progress and take their football to the next level.
This year was my first year on the scholarship here at Sholing and it has already delivered more opportunities than I could have asked for in the short period of time it has been. With my aims of progressing into professional football, Sholing was clearly my best option as I knew they would push me as much as I can to be the best player I can be which has given me the chance to play for the first team this season.
All the coaches and tutors are brilliant and are always able to help whether its work or football related”.
